Established in 1978, Bharati Vidyapeeth New Law College Pune is affiliated to Bharati Vidyapeeth University Pune and is approved by Bar Council of India. Bharati Vidyapeeth University’s NLC, established in 1978, is the premier institute of international excellence in the field of legal education. It is one of the constituent units of Bharati Vidyapeeth University Pune, recognized by Bar Council of India & the University Grant Commission. The institute affiliation is approved by Bar Council of India through Letter No. BCI-D-1029,(2009(1-E.Mtg) Dated 7/7/2009.
The institute is also recognized under 2f & 12b of the UGC Act 1956. The institute is Re-Accredited with “A+” Grade by National Assessment & Accreditation Council (3rd Cycle). .The institute was inaugurated in the year 1978 at the hands of Hon. Mr. Justice Y.V. Chandrachud the then Chief Justice of India.
The foundation stone of the NLC building was laid down in the year 2004 at the hands of the Chief Justice of India Hon. Mr. Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, the then judge Supreme Court of India. The new building of the institute was inaugurated in the year 2005 at the hands of Hon. Mr. Justice R.C. Lahoti, the then Chief Justice of India. The institute has celebrated its silver jubilee in the year 2003.

As prescribed by Bar Council of India, Rules of Legal Education 2008, the applicant shall have passed 10+2 or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto and have obtained 45% of the total marks in case of general category and 40% of the total marks in case of SC & ST applicant.
The maximum age for seeking admission into the stream of 5 years bachelor degree course in is limited to 20 years in general category and in case of SC, ST and another backward class applicant it is limited to 22 years.
