Eligibility Criteria for B.E Courses

The minimum eligibility criteria to apply for B.E in BMS Institute of Technology and Management are:

  • Mechanical Engineering BMSIT- Direct Admission Management Quota. Should have cleared 12th standard or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks in both Mathematics and Physics separately
  • Students must have appeared for KCET/COMEDK/JEE or any other national level entrance exams for joining the professional courses
  • Admission allocation is as follows: 45% of students through Karnataka common entrance test, 25% Management quota, and 30% through COMEDK.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Tech Courses

The eligibility criteria for students who wish to apply for M.Tech admission in BMSITM are:

About Counselling

Mechanical Engineering BMSIT- Direct Admission Management Quota. Counselling is a purposeful relationship in which one person helps another to help themselves. It is a way of relating and responding to another person so that the other person is helped to explore their thoughts, feelings and Behaviour, to reach a clearer self-understanding and then to find and use their strengths, draw on their resources so that they can cope more effectively with their life, making appropriate decisions by taking relevant action.

Admission through Karnataka UGCET:

The Government of Karnataka conducts the Karnataka UGCET entrance test every year for admission to undergraduate engineering courses in Karnataka.

45% of the total intake at BMSIT is reserved for students appearing in the Karnataka UGCET.

Admission is based on merit, so students must aim to secure a good rank in the entrance exam for seat allotment through counselling.

Admission through COMEDK UGET:

Mechanical Engineering BMSIT- Direct Admission Management Quota. The Consortium of Private Engineering Colleges in Karnataka conducts the COMEDK UGET entrance exam every year.

35% of the total intake at BMSIT is reserved for students appearing in COMEDK UGET.

Since admission is based on merit, students must secure a good rank in COMEDK UGET for merit seat allotment through counselling.

Role and responsibility of Counsellor


1. Fostering a healthy relationship of ‘mutual trust’ and ‘respect for the client’.
