Let’s start from the history of C.A.T: Before 2009, C.A.T was a paper based test conducted on a single day for all candidates. The pattern, number of questions and duration have seen considerable variations over the years.
On 1 May 2009, it was announced that C.A.T would be a Computer Based Test starting from 2009. The American firm Prometric was commended with the responsibility of conducting the test from 2009 to 2013.
In August 2011, it was announced that Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) would also use the C.A.T scores, instead of the Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET), to select students for their management programmes starting with the 2012-14 batch. (C.A.T) 2015 was conducted by the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad) on November 29, 2015. IIM Indore held C.A.Tfor the two consecutive years 2013 and 2014.

2018 C.A.T – IIM Calcutta has released the C.A.T 2018 application form on August 8. C.A.T 2018 will be conducted on November 25 in two sessions. The (C.A.T) is the most competitive M.B.A entrance exam of India taken by around 2 lakh candidates every year. IIMs conduct C.A.T on a rotational basis every year for entrance to 20 IIMs and over 100 B-schools across India. Around 4,000 seats are offered over the 20 IIMs.
New Features introducing this year in C.A.T

- Earlier the C.A.T processing fee was Rs.1800 and Rs. Respectively. From 2018 the registration fees has also been increased by Rs. 100. Which is now Rs. 1900 for General / NC – OBC candidates & Rs. 950 for SC, ST& PWD candidates. ( Direct MBA Admission in Top colleges through CAT )

- This year 2018 payment partners of new C.A.T are BillDesk, PayU and Paytm. New mode of payment added.
- From this year onwards, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, will also accept the C.A.T score for entrance to its M.B.A programme offered by the School of Management and Entrepreneurship.

- The application form of C.A.T 2022 has been released on August 8. C.A.T registration process is completely online wherein the aspirants have to visit the official website and click on the Registration tab.
- After filling up the registration form with basic details such as name, email address and mobile number, they would receive the C.A.T 2022 credentials- User ID and password over email and SMS respectively.
